Iychettira Ravi Somaiahs family's pursuit to develop footballers and the sporting community in Kodagu is no news. This family has been toiling towards a goal for the youth in the society and it has certainly made a difference by improving the football environment in the district. Today, they set foot into a new level of things where they now field a team in the divisions at Bangalore. The team is under the name “Kodagu Football Club” and the tournament season has started with it getting invitations to play in premium leagues. It will be the only premium Football team from Kodagu; developed and groomed at INS sports Centre (Under the aegis of Subbayas Centre for Humanity and Excellence Trust). It has a single full representation of players from Kodagu. A team of 20 promising players of Kodagu from humble backgrounds was scouted & recruited under the name of Kodagu Football Club. The team was Initially coached by a former player of Churchill brothers Mr.PK Ningleithing and today coached by Mr.A.Shanthakumar ; former player of the country. The Team resides at the campus and trains in two schedules regularly. The teams’ expense is funded by the family and at times find help from well-wishers. Well-wishers contribute in kind for players monthly Ration / Provisions in ways possible or absorb any cost element of Team management expense. The club is scheduled to play in the Super Divisions at Bangalore this year. Representation in this stage is a big stepping stone for football in Kodagu. We need supporting partners in those who can align with our vision, walk along with us and encourage the team through this season of tournaments.
